Psalm 23

This was referenced the other day ... somewhere. I looked it up online. Never put it together that these famous words were Psalm 23. Below is the KJV from www.christnotes.org

23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

This passage is an example to me of the best of the Bible and of religion in general. I certainly see God as having created joy and enjoyment and that peacefulness is a service in its own right. Bliss. Life should be blissful.

Aghast about Afghanistan

Sometimes the daily lesson is something horrifying. Last night on my way home from work I learned that Afghanistan is considering making rape a crime. Not only is it not currently a crime, but a woman who is raped ... COULD BE CHARGED WITH ADULTERY! The penalty for adultery can be death.

The victimization and revictimization of women is staggering.
